Indian Team’s New Jersey Revealed, ICC Asks if You Like it

Before the start of the World Cup 2019, ICC introduced a new rule asking the teams to sport home and away jerseys in the tournament. India is so far unbeaten in the World Cup. The side has won five matches and their match against New Zealand was called off due to rain. The Men in Blue will next take on England on June 30. This is when the ‘Men in Blue’ will be donning their away jersey.

ICC has just now tweeted Pandya, Kohli and Dhoni wearing the away jersey for India

The Orange jersey controversy

The Congress party had earlier raked up a controversy over Indian cricket team’s orange jersey that it would wear during its upcoming World Cup clash with England.

While Speaking to a news agency ANI, Maharashtra Congress MLA MA Khan said, that this government has been trying to see and show everything from different angle and colour for the past five years. This government is trying to lead this country towards saffronisation. Hinting that this is a step towards moving towards Hindu Nation ideology.

The Samajwadi Party also echoed similar views and said that the BJP, which has a saffron-colored flag, was trying to paint the country saffron. “Modi wants to paint the country saffron,” SP leader Abu Azmi said.

ICC puts an end to the controversy

The International Committee of Cricket (ICC), however, said that the color option was given to the BCCI by them, and BCCI chose what they felt went best with the color combination. The ICC further said the design for the new jersey has been taken from India’s old T20 jersey which already had orange in it.

“The whole idea is to be different as England also wears the same shade of blue as India. The design is taken from India’s old T20 jersey which had orange in it,” the ICC said.
