Lara Dutta Shares Video Showing How Prosthetics Transformed Her to Resemble Indira Gandhi

When the trailer of the new movie Bell Bottom starring Akshay Kumar in the lead road was launched — it instantly became very popular. With over 40 million views, it was the talk of the town but for a different reason.

The trailer show an actress playing the role of Late Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. While she looked very similar to the PM nobody seemed to have recognized that the actress playing the role is non-other than Lara Dutta.

Now, Lara Dutta has shared the video of how many prosthetic artists and support staff have worked together while she patiently watched herself being transformed to look like former PM Indira Gandhi.

She further states the role of so many people who have together to recreate such an important character in Indian history. She mentioned how she was very happy to play the role and can’t wait to see the film.

Her family’s reaction was also similar to what many viewers of the trailer. This incredible transformation of Lara shocked her husband Mahesh Bhupati which was revealed by her later.

My husband was shocked. He probably felt very unsettled with the look. He was like ‘I don’t want to hug you’. You don’t really look like yourself

Lara’s daughter Saira’s reaction was intriguing. “She saw it come alive in front of her… She came in and she saw whole silicon on my face and said, ‘Mum they are going to kill you, you can’t breathe.’ She was so worried. Ya, but having said that, she was also very intrigued and was like, ‘Can I touch the nose, the eyebrows? Can I do this, that?’.”

It is worth noting that Lara also has a personal association with the former PM, Her dad, Wing Commander LK Dutta, was Indira Gandhi’s personal pilot!

“He had flown her many times and knew her personally. I grew up as a kid hearing stories about her. So, in a way, I felt an indirect personal connection with her,” she said.

Bell Bottom is an upcoming Indian Hindi-language spy thriller film directed by Ranjit M Tewari. The film is written by Aseem Arrora and Parveez Sheikh, with production by Jackky Bhagnani, Deepshikha Deshmukh, and Nikkhil Advani under their respective banners Pooja Entertainment and Emmay Entertainment.

It stars Akshay Kumar as the lead character, with Vaani Kapoor, Lara Dutta, and Huma Qureshi in other prominent roles. Bell Bottom is inspired by real-life hijacking events in the 1980s in India.

Principal photography began on 20 August 2020. The film was wrapped up on 30 September in London. The film scheduled to release in theatres on 19 August 2021 in 3D.
